Samuel Klein Contemporary Art is pleased to present new photography, silent films and paintings by artist Lia Chavez in her debut solo exhibition in London.

London based visual artist Lia Chavez was born in 1978 in Ithaca, New York. Her work has exhibited in group shows in London, New York and Venice and belongs to private collections in New York and Sydney. She works across a broad spectrum of media, including photography, film, painting, sound and generative art. As part of the generative art duo Brightblack, Chavez has produced numerous improvised audiovisual installations with electronic composer Andrew Gaskins.

Chavez received her education in Florence, Italy, University of Oxford and Goldsmiths College in London. She has delivered art theory lectures at University of Oxford, University of London, University of Westminster and the UDC Clinton Institute in Dublin. Chavez is a visiting lecturer in photography at Goldsmiths College. She commences her doctoral research in fine art at Goldsmiths College in Fall 2007.
